About Us Violet and Anne Hawkes Violet set up the original cattery over 40 years ago, and she is on site to give advice and help whenever needed. Anne now manages the cattery having been involved with running it over the last 20 years. We have many regular customers who have been coming here for over 20 years (some with the same cat- our oldest regular visitor came on holidays each year for 22 years)- others with different cats as the years go by. Our youngest visitors were born here last summer. We really enjoy getting to know our visiting cats individually, and also our regular contact with their families. Country Cattery is licensed by South Cambridgeshire District Council, and is assessed for licence each year. We insist on every cat having up to date innoculations for feline infectious enteritis and cat ‘flu. We also insist on seeing the vet's certificate as proof of this. Our local Vet Surgery is less than 2 miles away and is on call 24 hours a day We are able to look after a cat with previous or current medical history, but we must be given full information in advance of the cat's stay and have confirmation from the vet involved that there is no reason to keep the cat away from a cattery environment. We have a range of different foods in our kitchen and will check with you what your cat usually eats. We can cater for special diets (either medical or your preference). We have a range of different units to choose from. All units have a view over extensive grounds. We have: Individual units Family units for 2, 3 or 4 cats Shared units which are very large rooms for cats from different families to share.
Our experience of cats is that they love to have a choice of places to sit as well as places to explore; they like to watch the world go by; and they like company and lots of attention. Most of our regular customers choose for their cats to be in the shared units as they really do make friends, especially as they are not in their own territory! We encourage all potential new customers to visit us before booking their cats in. Visitors are welcome during our usual opening hours, without any advance notice. |
